"The Alchemist", is an exciting novel that bursts with optimism; it is the kind of novel that tells you that everything is possible as long as you really want it to happen; as Coelho states "simple things are the most valuable and only wise people appreciate them".
It taught me that the greatest lie in the world is that at some point we lose the ability to control our lives, and become the pawns of fate.
Yet this doesn't mean that i'm in control now but at least it showed me that i can be in control though.......
well, If you know that already maybe then i should have met you instead of reading 4 Coelho......i guess my life would have changed even more dude.....
But it's great when someone voices their appreciation for literature!
My point is you'll find this essentially in all great literature (as a reminder of what we already know as humans, if we would only open our eyes to it). How do you think we're able to understand it after we read it?
Why do you think I'm able to say I already knew all that -- because I read great literature (including P.Coelho).
I once listed this book as my favourate, it was introduced to me by this guy who said his mom used to tell him this story since he was a little boy (he is brazilian), he said it was a known fable there. He came to AlAin and worked there and shared his dream which at that point seemed far fetched, 5 years after sharing this book with me he accomplished most what he was talking about, 8 years later, he was there. Now he is married to the girl he met in the desert while going after his dream. The book almost told his story.
If I have been of service, if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action, if I am at peace with myself, it has been a successful day.

You're probably right.
